ABOUT
Welcome, I am so glad you are here!
My name is Kalinda and I am the creator of The Sunflower Folk.
The universe works in mysterious ways and my journey here unfolded in a series of serendipitous events.
I first heard ‘the call’ to move into Women’s Work after birthing my daughter, Bella. Motherhood is a transformative time and I feel it reshaping and remaking me again and again. As I look to the future, I want so much more for my daughter.
The Sunflower Folk is my dream for her. It's my offering to the world.

I want a world for my daughter where women, in all their beautiful diversity, are celebrated. A world that appreciates all the goodness that women bring to their homes and their communities. Imagine a world where we honoured a girls first menstruation and welcomed her into womanhood. Imagine if she was consciously and thoughtfully guided throughout her journey of becoming a woman. A world that gently supported her nascent exploration of sexuality in open and tender ways, free of shame. Imagine a world where women led embodied lives in flow with their cyclical natures. A world where women are not equal to a man but are valued for being a woman. I want a world where women stop being ‘nice' and compliant and apologetic. Where they put down their cleaning gloves and run off to the woods or the beach. A world where women prioritize rest and pleasure and play. Imagine a world that valued old women. Not for her youthful skin but for the wisdom in her wrinkles. A world that saw the value of her life experiences and recognizes how she continues to contribute. A world that acknowledges all that she has sacrificed and given before now. I dream of a world where women reclaim their bodies, their feminine knowledge and the ancient wisdom that is their birthright. I heard the call, reverberating through the cosmos and growing in intensity.
I was raised by three wise women, three sisters. These strong, independent women raised me to believe that women are only limited by their capacity to dream. In the same year Bella was born, my aunt and the Matriarch of our family died. Amidst that grief, something was stirring. A voice somewhere said, ‘you’re going to have to step up now.’ And I heard the call again.
Shortly after having my baby, I found a Women’s Circle. It was the first time I had left the house without my baby and I desperately needed to reclaim something of myself. It was terrifying and exactly what I needed. Elisse was our Circle Facilitator and how I loved that woman for opening up my world to Women’s Circle. What a gift! After experiencing such a heartfelt space, I knew I could never be without it. Over several months I was learning to shed what no longer served me and learning to embrace the change. That call was getting louder. So when Elisse said she was following her heart in a new direction, I asked if I could step into those very big shoes! I was so fortunate to be met with such love and fierce support.
So here I am. I surrendered. I leaned in. And I am answering the call. With the birth of my daughter, the death of my aunt and the rebirth of myself I can see The life/death/rebirth cycle in full bloom and it led me here. I am so very grateful for it all. Several moons later, a few trainings and a handful of amazing experiences, The Sunflower Folk was birthed, right here on Noongar boodja.
If you’re hearing the call to come to Womens Circle, trust your instincts and come on over. I can't wait to sit In Circle with you xx
